Tilapia event with Manit Farm in Thailand

On 9th September, Manit Farms organized a major commercial event for the Thai tilapia industry. This was the occasion to introduce farmers to the partnership between Manit Farms and INVE Aquaculture. Manit is the supplier of high quality tilapia fry (Superblack Nile tilapia and Superred red tilapia) and quality feed under both the Manit Farm and OHO brands. INVE Aquaculture is a leading supplier of tilapia products for biosecurity (Sanocare CID) and microbial management in water (Secure POND) and gut (Secure YIELD).

Speakers from science and industry

Several managers from both companies attended the show. Among others were Mrs. Wilawan Harsup, CEO of Manit Farm, Mr. Hoffmann, Regional Key Account Manager and Mr. Kayankarnnavee, Area Manager Thailand for INVE Aquaculture. The successful event counted as well with the presence of key speakers from science and industry.  Among the speakers were Dr. Wara Taparhudee from Kasetsart University and Dr. Skorn Koonawootrittriron from Kasetsart University.

The nearly 450 farmers present at this gathering very well received the presentation on INVE probiotics, given by Dr. Olivier Decamp, INVE Aquaculture’s Product Manager Farm & Feedmill and translated with enthusiasm by Mr. Amorn Luengnaruemitchai, Managing Director of Manit Farm.

Key issues addressed

Key issues, such as the management of water and sediment quality or the benefit of microbial additives on growth and survival, were covered. This was followed by testimonials from farmers, and a debate on major issues faced by Thai tilapia farmers, with contributions from Dr. Win Surachetpong from Kasetsart University, Mr. Amorn Luengnaruemitchai and Mr. Sukan Klin-puang, farmers. The key message to the farming community was that a cost-efficient production of quality fish requires the combination of fry genetics, quality feed, biosecurity measures and specific management protocols.
